About this tool
Enter the monthly wage and the tool shows the employee's share at 11 percent and the employer's share at 13 percent for wages up to RM5,000 or 12 percent above it, the take-home pay after the employee share, and the yearly total going into the EPF. Contributions are rounded up to the next ringgit as the EPF schedule does for wages up to RM20,000.
The rates used
Employee: 11 percent of the monthly wage. Employer: 13 percent when the wage is RM5,000 or less, and 12 percent when it is above RM5,000. These are the usual rates for Malaysian employees below the age of 60.
Good to know
The EPF schedule uses wage bands and rounds contributions up to the next ringgit. Employees aged 60 and over, foreign workers and some other cases have different rates, and you can choose a lower employee rate in some situations. Check the EPF website for your case.
Worked example
A monthly wage of RM4,000: employee 11% = RM440; employer 13% = RM520; total RM960 a month, RM11,520 a year; take-home before tax RM3,560.
Tips for best results
Check every box before you rely on a result, because one wrong digit changes the whole answer. Use the exact figures from your payslip, bill, certificate or contract, and keep a note of the date you calculated. Rates, thresholds and rules change from time to time, so for tax, fees and legal matters treat the output as an estimate and confirm with the official source named on this page. You can run as many scenarios as you like; nothing is saved or sent, and refreshing the page clears the boxes.
