About this tool

Enter your yearly salary or income. The calculator applies the new tax regime slabs for FY 2025-26, the standard deduction of Rs 75,000 for salaried people, the section 87A rebate (no tax up to Rs 12 lakh of taxable income) and 4 percent health and education cess.

The new regime slabs (FY 2025-26)

Up to Rs 4 lakh: nil. 4 to 8 lakh: 5 percent. 8 to 12 lakh: 10 percent. 12 to 16 lakh: 15 percent. 16 to 20 lakh: 20 percent. 20 to 24 lakh: 25 percent. Above 24 lakh: 30 percent. A 4 percent cess is added to the tax.

Rebate and marginal relief

If taxable income is up to Rs 12 lakh, the rebate makes the tax zero. A little above that, the tax is limited to the amount over Rs 12 lakh (marginal relief). Surcharge for very high incomes and the old regime with deductions are not included.

Worked example

Gross salary Rs 15,00,000: taxable income 14,25,000 after the standard deduction. Tax = 20,000 + 40,000 + 15% of 2,25,000 (33,750) = 93,750; cess 3,750; total Rs 97,500 a year, about Rs 8,125 a month.

Tips for best results

Check every box before you rely on a result, because one wrong digit changes the whole answer. Use the exact figures from your payslip, bill, certificate or contract, and keep a note of the date you calculated. Rates, thresholds and rules change from time to time, so for tax, fees and legal matters treat the output as an estimate and confirm with the official source named on this page. You can run as many scenarios as you like; nothing is saved or sent, and refreshing the page clears the boxes.
