About this tool
Enter your date of birth, the date on which age is counted (usually the last date of application or a date named in the circular) and the age limit. The calculator shows your age in years, months and days, whether you are within the limit, and the date on which you reach the limit. Rules differ between circulars, so use the result as a quick check and confirm with the official notice.
How age limits are counted
Most circulars name a single date and ask that your age on that date does not go beyond the limit, for example 30 years for general candidates. Some count to the last date of application and some to the date of the circular, so always read the notice and put exactly that date in the second box.
Quota candidates
Quota candidates such as freedom-fighter children or people with disabilities may have a higher limit. Enter the limit given for your category in the third box. The tool does not guess quotas.
Planning ahead
The last date shows when you reach the limit. Candidates who are close should compare it with expected circular dates and apply as early as possible.
Tips for best results
Check every box before you rely on a result, because one wrong digit changes the whole answer. Use the exact figures from your payslip, bill, certificate or contract, and keep a note of the date you calculated. Rates, thresholds and rules change from time to time, so for tax, fees and legal matters treat the output as an estimate and confirm with the official source named on this page. You can run as many scenarios as you like; nothing is saved or sent, and refreshing the page clears the boxes.
