About this tool

Fill in who the fax is to and from, the date, the number of pages including the cover, the subject and your message. Tick boxes such as Urgent or Please reply, add your logo and a confidentiality notice, and download a clean A4 PDF to send with your fax or online fax service.

What goes on a cover sheet

The names, companies, phone and fax numbers of both sides, the date, the page count, a short subject and message, and a note that tells a wrong recipient what to do. Keep the message short; the documents that follow carry the detail.

Tips

Print it in black and white, because fax machines do not reproduce colour. Include the cover page in the page count.

Worked example

A trading company fills in the supplier's fax number, 4 pages, the subject Purchase order 118, ticks For review and Please reply, and prints the sheet.
