About this tool
Choose your age band and the hours you work each week. The calculator uses the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage rates from April 2026 and shows weekly, monthly and yearly pay before tax. Rates and thresholds are for the 2026-27 tax year and can change. A guide only, check gov.uk for the official figures.
The rates
From April 2026 the National Living Wage for ages 21 and over is £12.71 an hour. The rate for ages 18 to 20 is £10.85, and the rate for under 18s and apprentices is £8.00. These rates rise each April.
Example
A full-time 21-year-old on 37.5 hours earns at least £476.63 a week, or about £24,785 a year before tax.
Tips
Apprentices under 19, or in the first year, are paid the apprentice rate. Deductions for uniforms or accommodation cannot take pay below the minimum. If you think you are underpaid, ACAS and HMRC can help.
