About this tool
Some PDFs hold other files inside them: an XML invoice, a spreadsheet, pictures or a source document. Add the PDF and the tool pulls out every embedded file and file attachment so you can save them individually.
Where attachments hide
They are stored in the document's embedded files list or as paperclip annotations on pages. Many e-invoices (such as ZUGFeRD or Factur-X) carry an XML file this way. The tool lists everything it finds with the original file names.
If nothing is found
The PDF may have none. Pictures drawn on pages are not attachments; use Extract Images for those.
Worked example
An invoice PDF with an embedded invoice.xml gives you the XML file to import into your accounting software.
Tips for best results
Work on a copy of your file and keep the original until you have checked the result. Open the output before you send it to a portal, an employer or an office, and look at every page. If a size limit applies, check how the receiving site measures it, because some count a kilobyte as 1000 bytes and others as 1024. All processing happens inside your browser tab on your own device, so large files depend on your device memory and may take a little longer on a phone.
