About this tool
Choose the unit you have: Celsius, Fahrenheit or gas mark. The tool shows the other units and a fan oven temperature, which is usually 20 °C lower than a conventional oven.
Gas mark chart
Gas mark 1 is 140 °C (275 °F), 2 is 150 °C, 3 is 170 °C, 4 is 180 °C (350 °F), 5 is 190 °C, 6 is 200 °C (400 °F), 7 is 220 °C, 8 is 230 °C and 9 is 240 °C (475 °F).
Fan ovens
A fan oven circulates the air and cooks faster. Reduce the temperature by about 20 °C, or 25 °F, from a recipe written for a conventional oven.
Tips
Ovens vary, so an oven thermometer is useful. Let the oven preheat fully before baking.
