What Is Blank Text, and How to Use an Invisible Character Responsibly
Copy a blank Unicode character for an empty name, message or bio. What it is, where it works, and how to use it without misleading anyone.
Some apps refuse an empty value: a username, a nickname, a message or a profile field. A "blank text" character looks like nothing, but to the app it is a real character, so the field is accepted.
Quick answer
Press Copy to put an invisible Unicode character on your clipboard, then paste it into the field. It may be removed by some apps, which treat it as a space.
What it is
The character is usually the Hangul filler (U+3164), the braille blank (U+2800) or a zero-width character. They are legal Unicode symbols that happen to draw no visible shape.
Where it works
- Display names and nicknames in games and chats.
- Messages that look empty in some messengers.
- Profile fields that reject empty content.
Behaviour changes by platform and by app version. If one character is refused, try another variant.
Use it responsibly
- Do not use blank names to impersonate others or hide who you are in a place where identity matters.
- Do not use it to bypass moderation, harassment filters or account rules.
- Do not paste it into forms where a real value is legally or practically required.
- Remember that blank usernames can make support, payments and delivery harder.
Steps
- Open the tool.
- Press Copy.
- Paste in the field.
- If it fails, use the invisible text generator to try other characters.
Technical note
Because the character is invisible, it can confuse search, sorting and some validation. Test the field after saving.
