What Is Today's Bangla Date? How the Bangla Calendar Works
See today's date in the Bangla (Bangladesh) calendar with the weekday and Bangla digits, and learn how the revised calendar is arranged.
Documents, newspapers, school programmes and festival notices in Bangladesh often use the Bangla date next to the English one. The Bangla Date Today tool shows the current date in the Bangla calendar so you do not have to count months by hand.
Quick answer
Open the tool to see today's Bangla day, month and year with the weekday in Bangla digits. Pick another date to convert it.
How the Bangla calendar is arranged
The Bangladesh national calendar, revised in 1987 and put into use in 1989, has twelve months: Boishakh, Joishtho, Asharh, Srabon, Bhadro, Ashwin, Kartik, Ogrohayon, Poush, Magh, Falgun and Choitro.
- The first five months have 31 days, the next seven have 30, apart from Falgun, which has 29 days (30 in a leap year).
- The new year, Pohela Boishakh, falls on 14 April in the Gregorian calendar.
- The Bangla year runs about 593 or 594 years ahead of the Gregorian year, depending on the date.
The Indian (West Bengal) Bangla calendar differs, so a date in India can be a day or two apart from Bangladesh's.
When people use the Bangla date
- Letters and applications that carry both dates.
- Cultural events: Pohela Boishakh, Pohela Falgun and Nobanno.
- Agriculture, where seasons matter more than Gregorian months.
