About this tool
Add a PDF that has bookmarks, such as a book, report or manual with a table of contents, and the tool lists the top-level bookmarks with their page ranges. One click saves each chapter as its own PDF inside a ZIP file. Nothing is uploaded.
When to use it
Long documents are usually organised by chapter. Splitting by bookmark gives you one file per chapter without counting pages by hand, which is handy for sharing a single section or for studying one unit at a time.
How the parts are decided
Each top-level bookmark starts a part that runs up to the page before the next bookmark. Nested bookmarks are not split further. If the first bookmark is not on page one, the pages before it become a start part.
No bookmarks?
Many PDFs have no bookmarks, especially scans. Use the Split PDF tool to cut by page ranges, or the Remove Pages tool to drop what you do not need.
Privacy
The work is done in your browser and the file is not uploaded.
Tips for best results
Take a moment to read the options before you start, and try the tool with a small sample first. Everything runs in your browser on your own device, so nothing you type or add is uploaded, and closing the tab clears it. If something does not look right, reload the page and try again, or use the report link on this page to tell us what went wrong so we can fix it. If a result still looks wrong, change one value at a time to see which box matters most. Bookmark this page if you will need the tool again.
