About this tool
Type one course per line as a letter grade then the credits, for example B+ 4. Add your current GPA and credits to get a cumulative GPA. The tool uses the standard 4.0 unweighted scale including plus and minus grades.
The scale
A is 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, B is 3.0, B- is 2.7, C+ is 2.3, C is 2.0, C- is 1.7, D+ is 1.3, D is 1.0, D- is 0.7 and F is 0. Each grade is multiplied by the course credits, the products are added and divided by total credits.
Example
A with 3 credits, B+ with 4, A- with 3 and C with 2 gives 38.4 points over 12 credits, a GPA of 3.20.
Tips
Schools differ on plus and minus grades and on repeated courses. Use your registrar's rules for official results. For a goal GPA, add the courses you expect and see what you need.
Frequently asked questions
Does it handle weighted GPA?
No. It uses the standard unweighted 4.0 scale.
How do I add my current GPA?
Enter your cumulative GPA and total credits in the optional boxes.
How are pass/fail courses counted?
Leave them out, since they do not affect GPA at most schools.
Do repeats replace the old grade?
That depends on your school. Remove the replaced course if your school does that.
