About this tool
Enter a year to list the eleven US federal holidays with the date they are observed. When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on Friday, and when it falls on a Sunday it is observed on Monday. State and company holidays can differ.
The eleven holidays
New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day are the federal holidays. Several fall on a fixed weekday, such as the third Monday of January, and the others fall on a fixed date.
Observed dates
Federal offices and the banks that follow them close on the observed date. If a holiday is on a Saturday, offices usually observe it on Friday, and if it is on a Sunday, on Monday.
Note
Private employers decide which days to give. Many states add their own holidays, such as Election Day or Cesar Chavez Day.
