About this tool
Enter your gross salary and an optional pension contribution. The calculator applies income tax at 20 and 40 percent with the standard tax credits, the Universal Social Charge and PRSI to show your net pay per year and month. A single person with one income is assumed.
What comes off
Income tax is 20 percent up to the standard rate band of €44,000 for a single person and 40 percent above. Tax credits of €4,000 (personal and PAYE) reduce the bill. USC is charged in bands from 0.5 to 8 percent, and PRSI is about 4.2 percent for most employees.
Example
On €55,000 the net pay is about €41,500, or roughly €3,460 a month.
Notes
Married couples, single-parent credits, rent credit and other credits change the result. PRSI and USC rates are reviewed in the Budget each October.
