About this tool
The break-even point is where income equals costs. Below it you lose money and above it you earn a profit. Enter fixed costs such as rent and salaries, the price of one unit and the variable cost of one unit. You can also add a profit target to see how many units you need to reach it.
When to use it
Find how many units you must sell to cover your costs, from fixed costs, price and cost per unit.
Tips
Include all fixed costs. Raise price or reduce cost to lower the break-even point.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser, so your data is not uploaded or stored.
With the boxes at their starting values (Fixed costs (per month or period): 50000; Selling price per unit: 500; Variable cost per unit: 300; Profit target (optional): 0), the tool shows: Contribution per unit: 200.00; Contribution ratio: 40.0%; Sales needed to break even: 125,000.00; Break-even units: 250. Change any box to see your own numbers. The result updates as you type, and nothing leaves your browser.
