About this tool

What counts as metadata
Title, author, subject, keywords, creator program, producer and dates. Some PDFs also carry XMP data, which this tool clears too. The page content is untouched.

No. Only the file details are removed, nothing on the pages changes.
Are comments and bookmarks removed?
No, they stay. To hide text on the pages use the "Redact PDF" tool.
What details are removed?
Author, title, creator software, keywords and dates.
Does it change the pages?
No. The visible content stays the same.
Can metadata reveal my name?
Yes. Word often stores the author's name, so clean the file before publishing.
