About this tool
Create a checksum to check that a file or a message has not changed. Type text, or choose a file, and see SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 at once. Files are read on your device and are never uploaded. MD5 is not included because it is not secure.
When to use it
Make SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of text or a file, to check downloads and integrity.
Tips
Compare the hash with the one the publisher gives. Use SHA-256 or higher for security.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser, so your data is not uploaded or stored.
Use cases
Verify a downloaded file against the publisher's checksum, detect changes to a file or create an identifier for content. Do not use plain hashes to store passwords.
