How to Split an Image Into a Grid for an Instagram Profile or Puzzle
Cut one picture into equal tiles such as 3 by 3 or 1 by 3, preview the lines and download all the pieces as a ZIP in order.

A large picture split into tiles looks striking on an Instagram profile, makes a carousel that flows from slide to slide, or can become a printable jigsaw. The Image Splitter cuts the picture into equal parts.
Quick answer
Choose a grid (for example 3 × 3 for a profile grid or 1 × 3 for a carousel), check the lines on the preview and download a ZIP of numbered tiles.
Grid choices
- 3 × 1: a three-slide panoramic carousel.
- 3 × 3: nine posts forming a large picture on a profile.
- 2 × 2: four-piece puzzle or comparison.
- 4 × 4: a small puzzle.
Steps
- Open the tool and choose a high-resolution picture.
- Set the number of rows and columns.
- Look at the grid lines in the preview.
- Download the ZIP; tiles are named in order.
Posting order on Instagram
Instagram shows newest posts first, so upload the tiles in reverse order: bottom-right first and top-left last. For a carousel upload in the normal order.
Tips
- Use a picture at least 1080 px per tile (3,240 px wide for a 3-column grid) for sharp results.
- Keep important details away from the cut lines.
- A square photo works best for a square grid.
- For puzzles, print each tile at the same size on card.
The picture is cut in your browser and is not uploaded.
