Writing tips that the counts reveal
- Long sentences. If you have 400 words and only 5 sentences, your sentences average 80 words. Split them.
- Reading time. A 1,500-word guide takes about 7 to 8 minutes. Is that right for your reader?
- Paragraph length. Very long paragraphs are hard to read on a phone. Aim for 2 to 4 sentences.
- Trimming. To cut 10 percent, remove filler words such as "very", "really" and "in order to".
