How to Add a Date Stamp to Photos (Retro Film-Camera Style)

Old film cameras burned the date into the corner of every print. That orange stamp still makes a photo feel authentic, and it also helps when you need to show when a picture was taken, for example in a damage claim, a progress record or a family album.

Quick answer

Add your photos, let the tool read the date taken from each picture's hidden details (or use the file date, or type your own), choose the format, position, size and colour, and download the stamped images.

What date does it use?

Most phone photos contain an EXIF date, the moment the shutter was pressed. The tool reads that value first. If a picture has none, for example a screenshot or an edited file, it falls back to the file date. You can also type a date yourself and apply it to every photo.

Step by step

  1. Open the tool and add one or many photos.
  2. Choose the date format, for example 12/10/2026 or 12 Oct 2026.
  3. Pick the corner, the text size and the colour. A warm orange or yellow gives the classic look.
  4. Check the preview, then download. Several pictures arrive as one ZIP.

Tips

  • Increase the size for large photos; a stamp that looks right on a phone picture can be tiny on a 24-megapixel image.
  • Avoid placing the stamp over faces or key details. Bottom-right is the traditional spot.
  • Use a contrasting colour: yellow on dark scenes, white or dark orange on bright ones.
  • Keep your original files. The stamp is part of the picture once saved.

Good to know

A date stamp is a visual mark, not proof. If someone needs authenticated timestamps, keep the original files with their metadata intact.
