How to Open RAR, 7z and TAR.GZ Files in Your Browser Without Installing Anything
Open and extract RAR, 7z, tar and tar.gz archives online with no upload and no software, including password protected files, on phone or computer.

Phones and many laptops cannot open RAR or 7z files without an extra app. Instead of installing software from an unknown source, you can open the archive in your browser. The tools below unpack the file on your own device, so nothing is uploaded.
Quick answer
| Archive | Tool |
|---|---|
| .rar and .cbr | RAR Extractor |
| .7z | 7Z Extractor |
| .tar, .tar.gz, .tgz, .bz2, .xz | TAR.GZ Extractor |
| .zip | Unzip Files |
Steps
- Open the tool for your format.
- Add the archive.
- Press Open archive and wait a moment.
- Download single files, or take everything as one ZIP.
If the archive is protected, a password box appears. The password is used only in your browser.
Limits
The archive is unpacked in memory, so very large archives (several hundred MB) can fail on a phone. Multi-part archives (part1.rar, part2.rar) are not supported, and a few rarely used compression methods are not either.
Staying safe
Only open archives from sources you trust. Opening an archive here does not run anything inside it, but programs and macro documents you take out can be harmful.
Making a ZIP
To pack files into a ZIP instead, use Create ZIP.
