Pay and casual loading
A year has 52 weeks, so monthly pay is weekly pay times 52 divided by 12, not times four. The converter uses that rule for pay and for rent. Casual loading is commonly 25 percent and stands in for paid leave, so a higher casual rate is not a bonus. The calculator works both ways, from base to casual and back.
Leave
Full-time and part-time staff build up 4 weeks of annual leave and 10 days of personal leave a year, in proportion to hours. That is about one hour of annual leave for every 13 hours worked. Casuals do not accrue paid leave.
Redundancy
Under the National Employment Standards the scale runs from 4 weeks at one year of service to 16 weeks at nine years, and 12 weeks for ten years or more. Employees with under one year, and those of small businesses with fewer than 15 staff, are not covered. The result is before tax.
Penalty rates
Enter the base hourly rate, hours and the multiplier, such as 1.5 or 2, to see the rate and the pay. Which penalty applies and when is set by your award, so find it on the Fair Work Pay Guide.
Property
Rental Yield shows gross yield (rent divided by price) and net yield after costs, before loan interest and tax. The deposit tool shows what you still need to save, the months it will take, and warns when a deposit under 20 percent will probably need lenders mortgage insurance.
