About this tool

Enter an amount, choose the VAT rate that applies and decide whether to add VAT or to remove it from a price that already includes it. The standard rate in Bangladesh is 15 percent; lower rates apply to some goods and services. The result shows the price without VAT, the VAT and the total.

Which rate applies

The standard rate is 15 percent. Reduced rates such as 10, 7.5, 5, 4.5 and 2.4 percent apply to certain goods, services and turnover situations. Check the schedule of the National Board of Revenue for your item.

Removing VAT from a price

If a price includes 15 percent VAT, divide it by 1.15 to get the price without VAT. Choose remove VAT and the tool does this for you.

Use for invoices

For invoices, keep the rate, the base amount and the VAT amount visible on separate lines.
