About this tool

Choose a direction. Enter feet and inches to get centimetres, or centimetres to get feet and inches. One inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres and a foot is 30.48 centimetres.

The formula

cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54. Feet = cm ÷ 30.48, with the remainder in inches.

Common heights

5 ft 0 in is 152.4 cm, 5 ft 6 in is 167.6 cm, 5 ft 9 in is 175.3 cm, 6 ft 0 in is 182.9 cm and 6 ft 3 in is 190.5 cm.

Why use it

Heights are given in feet and inches in the US and UK, and in centimetres in most other places. This is useful for forms, clothing and BMI calculations.

Common heights

5 ft 3 in is 160 cm, 5 ft 6 in is 168 cm, 5 ft 9 in is 175 cm and 6 ft is 183 cm. Multiply feet by 30.48 and inches by 2.54.

Przykład z rozwiązaniem

With the boxes at their starting values (Direction: Feet and inches to cm; Feet: 5; Inches: 9; Centimetres: 175), the tool shows: Total inches: 69.0; Metres: 1.75; Centimetres: 175.3. Change any box to see your own numbers. The result updates as you type, and nothing leaves your browser.
