About this tool
Enter your other taxable income, the capital gain and whether you held the asset for more than 12 months. The tool applies the 50 percent discount for residents, adds the gain to your income and compares the tax with and without it, including the Medicare levy. Rates and rules change each year, so use the result as a guide and check the official source.
How it works
The gain is added to your income and taxed at your marginal rate. Assets held over twelve months get a 50 percent discount for residents.
Example
A $20,000 gain held over a year adds $10,000 to income.
Tips
The main home is usually exempt. Costs and losses reduce the gain. Rates and rules change, so use the result as a guide and check the official source.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser, so your data is not uploaded or stored.
풀이 예시
With the boxes at their starting values (Other taxable income per year: 90000; Capital gain: 40000; Held for more than 12 months: Yes), the tool shows: Gain added to your income: 20,000; Gain after extra tax: 33,600; Extra tax and Medicare: 6,400. Change any box to see your own numbers. The result updates as you type, and nothing leaves your browser.
최상의 결과를 위한 팁
