About this tool

Choose a direction. Enter feet and inches to get centimetres, or centimetres to get feet and inches. One inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres and a foot is 30.48 centimetres.

The formula

cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54. Feet = cm ÷ 30.48, with the remainder in inches.

Common heights

5 ft 0 in is 152.4 cm, 5 ft 6 in is 167.6 cm, 5 ft 9 in is 175.3 cm, 6 ft 0 in is 182.9 cm and 6 ft 3 in is 190.5 cm.

Why use it

Heights are given in feet and inches in the US and UK, and in centimetres in most other places. This is useful for forms, clothing and BMI calculations.
