How to Count the Days Until an Exam, Trip, Wedding or Any Date
See the number of days, weeks and hours left until a future date, or how many days ago a past date was.

A clear countdown helps you plan your effort. Whether the target is an exam, a flight or a wedding, knowing the days and weeks left changes how you schedule your work.
Quick answer
Pick a future date and the tool shows the days, weeks and hours remaining from today. If the date is in the past, it tells you how long ago it was.
Make the number useful
- Exams. Divide the days by the topics. If you have 45 days and 15 chapters, that is three days per chapter plus review.
- Trips. Work backwards: visa, tickets, vaccinations, packing.
- Weddings. Plan in months: venue first, then catering, invitations and outfits.
- Savings goals. Divide the target amount by the weeks left.
Steps
- Open the tool.
- Choose the target date.
- Read the days, weeks and hours remaining.
Counting rules
The calculation counts calendar days from today to the chosen date. Time zones can affect the hour figure slightly. Whether to include the end day depends on your purpose; in a "days left" sense the end day is not counted.
Tips
- Set a reminder at one-third and two-thirds of the countdown.
- Use the working days calculator if only weekdays matter.
- For two dates that are both fixed, use the date difference calculator.
