How to Convert ODT to Word (DOCX) and Keep the Layout
Turn a LibreOffice ODT file into an editable DOCX for Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, with headings, paragraphs, lists and simple tables.

When a colleague or school asks for a "Word file" and you write in LibreOffice, you need a DOCX. You can export from LibreOffice, but if you only have the ODT and no office suite, the browser tool does the job.
Quick answer
Add the ODT and download a .docx that you can edit in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
What is carried over
- Headings and paragraphs
- Bold, italic and underline
- Bulleted and numbered lists
- Simple tables
- Images (placed inline)
Steps
- Open the tool.
- Choose your ODT.
- Convert and download.
- Open the DOCX and review.
What may need tidying
- Fonts: if the font is not installed, Word substitutes.
- Styles: custom style names may be simplified.
- Page layout: margins and columns can differ.
- Fields: automatic page numbers and tables of contents may need updating (press F9 in Word).
Tips
- If layout is critical, send a PDF as well.
- Check tracked changes and comments; simple conversions may drop them.
- Save the DOCX with a new name so you keep the original ODT.
Everything happens in your browser, privately.
