How to Convert an Hourly Wage to an Annual Salary (and Back)
Find what an hourly rate means over a year, or turn a salary into an hourly figure, with hours per week and weeks worked.

Job ads use either an hourly rate or a yearly salary. To compare offers fairly you need the same unit.
Quick answer
Annual pay = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. A common full-time assumption is 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours.
Examples
- £15 per hour × 40 × 52 = £31,200 a year.
- $25 per hour × 40 × 52 = $52,000 a year.
- A salary of 600,000 taka a year ÷ 2,080 = about 288 taka an hour.
Adjust for your situation
- Part-time hours: change hours per week, for example 24.
- Unpaid weeks: subtract weeks without pay, for example 50 instead of 52.
- Paid holidays: if holidays are paid, 52 weeks is correct.
Using the calculator
- Choose the direction: hourly to salary or salary to hourly.
- Enter the amount.
- Set hours per week and weeks worked.
- Read the hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly figures before tax.
What the figure does not include
- Income tax and social contributions.
- Overtime premiums and bonuses.
- Benefits such as pension, health insurance and paid leave.
Tips
- When comparing, check whether the salary includes paid holidays.
- A "higher hourly rate" job without holiday pay may be worth less than a lower rate with benefits.
